Luke & Kathy’s STory

Our Story:

Contrary to what many might assume, Luke and Kathy were not high school sweethearts. Yet, during their senior year, amidst the laughter and dreams shared with friends, a spark ignited. Both expressed a singular, heartfelt dream: to build not just a good marriage, but a great one. This shared vision became the cornerstone of their relationship.

Their journey together blossomed in college, leading them to exchange vows two years later, and soon after, they welcomed two incredible daughters into their lives. However, eight years into their marriage, Kathy sensed a growing rift. Despite being a devout Christian couple who actively participated in nearly every marriage retreat and book study their church offered, a disconnect lingered. They struggled to connect on a deeper emotional level. Luke's inattentiveness weighed heavily on Kathy, and the advice offered through church and other resources seemed ineffectual. Yet, Kathy remained steadfast in her faith, believing God envisioned more for their marriage.

With a heart heavy with disappointment but unwavering in hope, Kathy asked God for help. He told her to pray for Luke to become a spiritual leader.

The breakthrough came unexpectedly through yet another invitation to a marriage book study. It was within this sacred circle of friends that the miraculous unfolded. Luke's heart opened, allowing him to view scripture—and their marriage—through a new lens, aligning with God's design for unity. He began genuinely listening to Kathy, receiving her insights with grace, and eagerly sought guidance from those who exemplified Christ-like love within their own homes.

Now, more than thirty years into their marriage, Luke and Kathy acknowledge that their story continues to unfold. Their journey has been marked by turbulence and dissonance, yet they've discovered a profound victory and connection that only comes from committing to marriage God's way. It's a testament to the transformative power of faith, honesty, and unconditional love—a beacon of hope for all marriages far beyond what most have ever imagined.
